Coronary Angioplasty

Coronary Angioplasty is a method that opens complex clogged arteries of the heart. It all happens with the help of a balloon catheter inserted via a blood vessel that widens it and regulates the blood flow.

It starts off with the placement of a mesh wire named stent. This drug-eluting stent helps the opening of arteries without its narrowing. Angioplasty can also help in curing several symptoms of the heart that includes chest pain and breathing shortness.

But before any proceedings, doctors make sure to use a sedative to ease the tension in the muscle. After that, our doctors insert an intravenous line- IV through either arm or groin. Then, a thin catheter tube will be inserted along with it that goes smoothly under the guidance of an X-ray imaging. Contrast dye inserted along with this line ensures to identify any blockages present inside the heart. A small balloon attached to the intravenous line makes sure that the blockage opens up. Thus, it helps in easing the tension between the heart muscles.
