AICD Implantation

An Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (or AICD) is a tiny electronic device implanted into the chest that monitors and fixes arrhythmia or abnormal heart rhythm. All this takes place with the help of cardioversion (or high-speed pacing) that resets the rhythm. It also collects the progress of the heart by tracking it simultaneously.

During AICD implantation, our nurses will apply sedation to the incision part so that your body relaxes. With the local anesthetic, the body will be numb during this operation. Our cardiologists will also make a small cut to insert the AICD. The leads of AICD get attached to the veins of the heart.

The doctors will then sew the affected area with the help of stitches. The doctor may make you rest up a little based on the progress.
